How do you care for cashmere?
The care label may say "dry clean only," but hand-washing a cashmere sweater will actually make it softer over time. Always wash it inside out in cold water and use a baby or wool and cashmere shampoo, which nourishes the fibers, helps it stay strong, and prevents pilling. Squeeze out any excess water, but don't wring the sweater out. Instead, lay it flat on a towel and reshape it once it's dry. Fold it up for storage. To avoid a line down the middle of the sweater, fold each side of the sweater inward by a third. Smooth the arms and fold in half. Never hang a cashmere sweater - this will cause the shoulders to sag, and gravity will also distort the overall shape.
